Needing just a little heat and a good stir, our dhal is ready to eat as a satisfying side dish or can be cooked with other ingredients to create a more substantial curry. Add water or stock for a curry soup. Fava beans, the primary ingredient of our Vaal Dhal, are produced in diverse arable rotations on British farms following regenerative practices. As a legume crop, fava beans reduce total inputs and help to build soil health.
We support diverse arable production on British farms to produce a range of plant-based wholefoods. Our vision is for a diverse agroecological food system built on a network of transparent relationships. Diversity and agroecology are central to our purpose; circular design in food is embedded in our business ethos and practice. We support lower impact, regenerative farming systems and reduce environmental impact beyond the farm gate. We work to upcycle waste and low value co-products - or avoid their creation in the first place. We minimise packaging, carefully select the materials used in that packaging and reduce waste generated through our processes and elsewhere in our supply network. We seek to inspire innovation by showing the uses, value and benefits of crops from diverse rotations, especially underutilised legume crops that reduce total farm inputs. By putting pulses at the centre of rotations and plates we seek to reframe farming and diets to effect wider system change.
