Description from food designer

Award winning ‘SPUDS crisps with a conscience’ transform a universally loved snack into a revolutionary campaign through creative partnerships, selection of low impact ingredients and regenerative strategies.

Our farmers are citizen scientists testing the viability of plant varieties and growing techniques that significantly lower the carbon footprint of crisp production while improving soil health, product nutrition and taste. SPUDS ‘naked’ crisps invite the crisp eater to taste the quality of responsibly produced ingredients and experiment with creative flavouring. Try dipping them in dark chocolate, sprinkling them with Chimichirri or Shichimi Togarashi and Sea Salt for a sensational hit. We want to hear about your experiments! Our crisps are packaged in metal (recycles forever) and home compostable materials. We use the packaging graphics to tell the story of our research and commitment to circular design.

99.7% of Irish farms are owned and run by families. These small holdings are ideally suited to regenerative farming models and stand to reap significant economic, environmental and social benefits from our research. 100% of profit from sales are reinvested in future SPUDS research and development. Will ‘SPUDS crisps with a conscience’ become the first snack to use their scientific edge to become a sought after brand? Can a package of crisps influence the course of Irish agriculture? We believe they can! Bí URBAN is a nature based social enterprise and not for profit. Similar to the way insects pollinate plants, humans pollinate ideas. Every individual has unique knowledge essential to transformation. We design inclusive multidisciplinary projects that connect nature, people and place to source simple solutions to complex problems.
