Unwrap, break off a finger, snap it in two and savour the crispy wafer finger covered in deliciously smooth milk chocolate. KITKAT was first launched in 1935 as 'Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp' and acquired its current name two years later. Launched in York and still produced there today, KITKAT is a British classic. In 2016, KITKAT became the first chocolate brand to source 100% certified cocoa globally. KITKAT supports improving the lives of cocoa farmers and quality of cocoa through the Nestle Cocoa Plan® and by working with the Rainforest Alliance. Since 2015, KITKAT has collaborated with dairy farmers in Ayrshire, south-west Scotland who provide the fresh milk for the chocolate recipe, on a regenerative agriculture programme with environmental and social benefits. In 2024, all of the plastic packaging used to wrap KITKAT bars in the UK is made from recycled content, certified by ISCC.
